East Midlands Swimming Academy was established in 1998, by Sally Parkin. Sally has been involved in swimming from a very young age, and has competed at both regional and national levels for swimming and lifesaving.
Over the past 8 years EMSA has grown and developed a dedicated team of staff, who are committed to providing first class swimming tuition with enthusiasm and a friendly approach, helping pupils of all ages achieve their goals.
EMSA proudly offers their swimming programme at numerous sites within the East Midlands Region and with the rapid growth and popularity of our clubs we have plans to open more sites in 2008!
Our teachers are either ASA or STA qualified and have years of experience behind them, and have been carefully selected personally by Sally. All EMSA teachers have a fully comprehensive and up to date insurance policy.
At EMSA we offer lessons for both adults and children and would welcome swimmers of all ages and
abilities - we have the time and patience to work with everyone.
We are always on the look out for level 2 teachers, if you feel you have what it takes to work for
EMSA, and would like to be part of our team, please contact Sally at Email: sally@em-sa.co.uk or Telephone: 07813 892108.

About the Teachers

Sally Parkin
As a keen swimmer from the age of 4, I started teaching 9 years ago, and have years of experience and qualifications that I regularly update. I have represented my county at both regional and national levels for lifesaving and swimming.
I understand the importance of learning to swim, so teaching lifesaving skills to my pupils from a young age is my top priority, as the water can be a beautiful place to be, but it can also be the most dangerous! My lessons have so much emphasis on being fun but informative, as I feel this is the best way to communicate with pupils of all ages.
I have also received a Royal Humane Society Award, this was for saving a ladies life in rough seas, which with out my help she would certainly have drowned. |

I am ASA qualified level 2 and have been in the sports and leisure industry for over four years now and still enjoy every moment of it. I first became a lifeguard after moving abroad and then progressed to being a swimming teacher.

Swimming has been a large part of my life since the age of 4, where my lessons began at West Park Leisure Centre, Long Eaton. From there I joined a competitive club, Treonte, which lead me to be Derbyshire Champion for my age at 10yrs old. At age 11, I joined Trident Swimming club in Long Eaton, training up to fifteen hours per week including 6.15am morning sessions! This lead me to Maintain my Derbyshire Champion status and be a part of the County Squad, competing both regionally and nationally, and I also attended many training camps throughout the country.
My passion for swimming lead me to qualify as a Level 1 swimming teacher. This allowed me to spend three months of this year in Maine, USA teaching swimming at a girls summer camp and loved every minute of it.
I Currently swim for leisure and am a student at Nottingham Trent University. |

I regularly attend seminars and courses to keep up to date with the swimming industry and to gain new idea's and activities that I can put into practice within my lessons.
It is, I feel, one of the most rewarding jobs there is as you get to see your pupils progress and also achieve there own personal goals and become safe and happy within water. A lot of swim school's and clubs put a lot of pressure on pupils to achieve specific awards and targets which I feel is wrong, with EMSA the main emphasis is on having fun and to enjoy being in the water, which makes me proud to be part of the team! |
